The First Office Building in Denmark to Achieve WELL Certified™ Platinum

Developed by the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™), WELL is one of the leading certifications for buildings seeking to support occupant health and well-being.  

Rockfon wall and ceiling acoustic solutions contributed to the exemplary WELL score in eight out of the ten key "Concepts": Sound, Light, Air, Thermal Comfort, Materials, Mind, Water, and Innovation. Products from the new design range furthermore allowed the team to unleash their creativity in creating an indoor office environment that centralises user well-being and comfort.

More than 90 percent of Rockfon products are Cradle to Cradle Certified®, which helped comply with requirements under the Materials key area.  

The renovation of the Hedehusene headquarters had additionally achieved the DGNB Gold pre-certificate classification from the German Sustainable Building Council in 2022, for which Rockfon acoustic solutions contributed to the Environmental Quality, Economic Quality, Sociocultural and Functional Quality, Technical Quality, and Process Quality areas. 

“WELL is a rating system that was developed in the United States, but it has multiple legal requirements that we adapted to Danish building regulations and working environment legislation. This was a challenge, especially across acoustics, but with advice from IWBI™ and our Danish WELL-advisor Artelia Denmark, we found the necessary solutions to achieve WELL Certified™ Platinum,” said Carsten Christiansen, Senior Technical Manager at Rockfon for Northern and Eastern Europe. 

"We were able to confirm all of the attempted WELL features implemented by the project team. We would particularly like to emphasise the improved air and water quality as well as a healthy food selection. In addition, our measurements and tests have clearly confirmed the requirements for 'sound insulation on walls' and 'reverberation time thresholds' on site as being met," said Ilja Sokolinskii and Anke Koch from the accredited WELL Performance Testing Organization ibak ingenieurbüro anke koch GmbH. 

In addition to improved occupant conditions, the overall energy efficiency of the building has improved by 64 percent since it was first built over fifty years ago
