Here’s what we have planned for Clerkenwell Design Week:
TUESDAY 23 MAY
Drinks party from 5pm: Join us for a drink to mark the opening of Clerkenwell Design Week!
WEDNESDAY 24 MAY
Panel discussion 2-3pm: When will the reuse of building materials in projects become mainstream?
The demolition and replacement of buildings are fuelling the climate crisis. The built environment is responsible for 40% of global emissions and produces one-third of the earth's annual waste. It’s 2023 and yet the reuse of building materials only accounts for less than one percent of the construction materials market. Why is reuse so complicated to put into practice? Are there any success stories to give us confidence that it is possible? What needs to change so that we reuse what we already have?
Panellists:
- Kasper Vibaek – Head of Sustainability, Rockfon (Chair)
- Laura Wiesner – CEO, Wiesner-Hager
- Asif Din – Sustainability Director, Perkins & Will
- James Shears – Environmental & Sustainability Manager, Overbury and Morgan Lovell
- Ross Dight – Technical and Sustainability Director, Tarkett
If you’d like to join us, register your interest here.
Wine tasting 6.30-8.30pm: Averys began in 1793, and today it is 5th generation Mimi Avery introducing us to wines with a story to tell – whether for everyday drinking or fine wines from the cellar. If you’re interested in attending, please email us at Clerkenwell@rockfon.com.
THURSDAY 25 MAY
Yoga class from 8-9am: Start the day with a yoga session led by Olivia Marley. Down-to-earth and welcoming, expect clear instructions and a logical approach to postures that might initially seem complicated. A healthy breakfast will be served. If you’re interested in attending this seperate Yoga class before the Panel discussion, please email us at Clerkenwell@rockfon.com.
Panel discussion 2-3pm: Is the noisy restaurant phenomenon out of control?
A meal at a restaurant isn’t just about the food. It’s also about sound. Research and consumer surveys show that background music, noise levels, and acoustics affect not only the atmosphere but also the way we taste what we eat and drink. Excessive noise is the top complaint in many restaurants with restaurant rating apps like SoundPrint and Zagat providing consumers with the tools they need to find quiet restaurants.
Join us for a panel discussion on how to achieve the best acoustic experiences at hospitality venues.
Panellists:
- Pascal van Dort – Global Acoustics Ambassador, Rockfon (Chair)
- Richard Grove – Director, Inhabit
- Joe Cilia – Technical Director, Finishes & Interiors Sector organisation
- Keith Somers, Head of Design & Product, Lioncor
- Claire Gallagher – Food Industry Consultant
